1) I think 44 miles is impressive in and of itself.
2) I think deciding to continue running is always a difficult decision (well, except when "can no longer stand up"). I bailed a mile into a parkrun because the conditions I'd set ("If your foot starts hurting, you stop") were met, and have been regretting/reconsidering it ever since, even though it was right before I made the decision, and right afterwards and I'm able to run my 10k tomorrow when I might not have been if I'd pushed through it.

That night run looks positively terrifying. I think I'm a long way off being able to do that.

Though not from understanding the temptation.
